New Smart Loading Zones installed on Forbes Avenue in Oakland

Smart loading zones are the City's new way to manage curb space to increase delivery efficiency and decrease congestion and emissions by reducing dwell time. Offering vehicles a 15-minute grace period to park temprarily in these spaces without requiring registration with the program allows for increased parking turnover for restaurants and businesses, for example. For motorists planning to stay longer than 15-minutes, registration is required, and—using license plate reading technology that analyzes rela-time curbisde activity—payment for parking used is completed automatically, meaning that users can efficiently manage their short-term parking needs easily. In turn, the smart loading zone program intends to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other curb users while reduing congestion caused by parking and double-parking and decreasing emissions created from unnecessary idling and circling.

Adding to the smart loading zones already in place in Oakland at 3601-3605 Forbes Avenue, 3703-3721 Forbes Avenue, 3903-3907 Forbeas Avenue, and 3945-3955 Forbes Avenue will be additional locations along side streets including:
