Forbes Avenue and related Ramp Closures on Friday and Saturday

Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13

Forbes Avenue will close to traffic from Brady St. at Birmingham Bridge to Craft Ave. from 8:00pm Friday through 8:00pm Saturday. Additionally, the eastbound Route 885 Boulevard of the Allies ramp to Forbes Ave. will close to traffic during this time. Motorists traveling from Pittsburgh will continue to use Exit 72A. A single-lane of traffic on Forbes Ave. will be maintained from the I-376 ramp to Craft Ave. Detours from Downtown Pittsburgh, on Forbes Avenue from the point of closure, and Southbound on the Boulevard of the Allies are posted.

Additional work on this $10.19 million improvement project includes signal upgrades with full replacements at several intersections, ADA curb cut ramp installation, new signalized pedestrian crossing between South Bouquet and Bigelow Boulevard, and painted bike lanes from Bigelow Boulevard to Margaret Morrison St. Daytime, overnight, and weekend work will occur through this heavily traveled corridor. Liberty Bridge (Outbound) Single-Lane Restriction Sunday Night

Monday, April 15 through Saturday, April 20

Drainage maintenance work will result in a single-lane closure in the outbound (southbound) Liberty Tunnel on Sunday night, April 14 from 10:00pm to 5:00am Monday morning.

 

I-376 Parkway East Ramp Paving on Saturday

Saturday, April 13

Milling and paving operations will close the following I-376 Parkway East ramps. Ramp traffic will be detoured.

  • Westbound Beechwood Blvd. ramp from Monitor St. to the Squirrel Hill/Homestead interchange
  • Southbound Forward Avenue ramp to Beechwood Blvd.

This work is part of the $26.39 million Parkway East Improvement Project located between the Fort Pitt Bridge and the Edgewood/Swissvale interchange and includes milling and resurfacing, concrete patching, ramp improvements, bridge dam replacement, barrier repair work, guiderail improvements, and minor bridge repairs.

 

I-279 Parkway North Daylight Lane Restriction on Saturday

Saturday, April 13

Sound wall cleaning and painting operations on the southbound side of I-279 between the Suffolk Street Bridge and the East Ohio Street (Exit 2B) off-ramp will result in a single-lane restriction from 7:00am to 5:00pm (weather permitting). Please use caution while driving through the area. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

 

I-279 Parkway North (Northbound) Lane Closure through Sunday, Madison Avenue On-Ramp to Close

Thursday, April 11 through Sunday, April 14

Paving and line painting operations on northbound I-279 Parkway North will result in a single-lane closure between I-579 and the Suffolk Street Bridge from 5:00am Thursday continuously through 2:00pm Sunday. Traffic shifts will occur as needed through the I-279 corridor and on northbound I-579 approaching the Parkway North.

Madison Avenue On-Ramp to Northbound I-279 will be closed during this time. Posted detours will direct traffic past the on-ramp to where Madison Ave. becomes East St. where vehicles can take the ramp near Hazlett St. Please use caution while driving through the area. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

 

Route 28 (East Deer Township) Improvement Work Continues This Weekend

Friday, April 12 through Monday, April 15

Crews continue approach slab work on Rt. 28 in East Deer Township this weekend resulting in a single-lane restriction on northbound Rt. 28 at the bridge over Bailies Run Road from 7:00pm Friday continuously through 2:00pm Monday afternoon.

This work is part of an overall $34.34 million project including concrete patching, an asphalt overlay, bridge preservation work, drainage and guiderail improvements, installation of a new automatic bridge de-icing system, lighting upgrades, and more.

 

I-579 Ramp Inspection Activities Create Single-Lane Restrictions This Weekend

Saturday, April 13 through Tuesday, April 16

Inspection activities on I-579 ramps will begin on April 13 (weather permitting) creating single-lane restrictions on the following schedule:

  • Saturday, April 13 from 9:00am to 3:00pm
    • Southbound lane at the south approach to the Veterans Bridge
    • Veterans Bridge ramp to 7th Avenue
  • Sunday, April 14 from 6:00am to 2:00pm
    • Bedford Avenue ramp to northbound I-579
    • Northbound lane at the south approach to the Veterans Bridge
  • Monday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 16 from 9:00am to 3:00pm
    • Boulevard of the Allies ramp to the Liberty Bridge

I-376 Parkway East Overnight Lane Restrictions

Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19

I-376 will be reduced to a single-lane in each direction in various locations between the Fort Pitt Bridge and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel while crews conduct guiderail and attenuator work, strip seal installation, and make drainage improvements. Restrictions will occur from 9:00pm to 5:00am each night (weather permitting). Any work to Outbound I-376 will not begin until one hour after the end of any Penguins or Pirates game, or the upcoming Cher concert.

 

Liberty Bridge (Inbound) Lane Restrictions Overnight, All Week

Monday, April 15 through Saturday, April 20

Overhead sign structure work will be conducted from 8:00pm to 5:00am each night (weather permitting) requiring a single-lane restriction on the inbound (northbound) Liberty Bridge. Additionally, a single-lane restriction on the Crosstown Blvd. between the Liberty Bridge and Forbes Ave. will occur in both directions. Work will not begin until one hour after any Penguins game or the Cher concert.

 

Fort Pitt Tunnel (Outbound) Single-Lane Restriction

Monday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 16

Tunnel washing activities in the outbound (westbound) Fort Pitt Tunnel will result in single-lane closures from 9:30pm to 5:30am each night on 4/15 and 4/16. Work will not begin until one hour after the Penguins game on Tuesday night.

 

Route 28 (Frazer Township) Single-Lane Restrictions, Shoulder Closures, and Short-Term Traffic Stoppages As Needed

Monday, April 15 through late September

As needed, traffic restrictions may occur on Route 28 under the Butler Logan Bridge (Route 1019) from 9:00am to 5:00am the following day (southbound) and from 7:00pm to 2:00pm the following day. Restrictions will occur as needed for demolition, construction, painting, and removal of the paint containment system on the Butler Logan Bridge over Rt. 28.
