Power management company, Eaton, who's electrical division is based in Pittsburgh, has partnered with a software firm specializing in AI, Treehouse, to streamline residential electrification projects including energy storage, heat pumps, and electric vehicle charging. The collaboration will integrate Eaton's hardware with Treehouse's AI software to offer consumers a comprehensive service from design and bid to contracting and installation. This partnership aims to make the energy transition more accessible and affordable for customers.
Paul Ryan, Eaton's general manager of connected solutions and EV charging, emphasized the company's commitment to the energy transition and customer satisfaction. Eaton's "Home as a Grid" strategy focuses on efficient home electrification, while Treehouse provides the AI software to facilitate project installation, permitting, and design. The announcement coincides with Eaton's appointment of Omar Zaire as president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, following Tim Darkes' retirement in June 2025.
Eaton's partnership with Treehouse has potential to significantly impact local efforts to adopt clean energy solutions by offering end-to-end electrification service designed to simplify homeowners' process for integrating energy storage systems, heat pumps, and EV charging infrastructure into their homes.
By facilitating the charging of electric vehicles at home, a crucial aspect of increasing EV adoption, more residents could be encouraged to switch to electric vehicles, and the region could in turn see a reduction in emissions from transportation. This partnership could very well serve as a model for how technology and industry collaboration can accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and electrified future in western Pennsylvania and beyond.
